Postane: Archeology of a Building
As an output of the project Searching for a Cosmopolitan City in a Building held by Liana Kuyumcuyan and Murat Tülek since 2021, the book Postane: Archeology of a Building presents a comprehensive compilation that analyses all the transformations that the building, built in 1859 as the British Post Office, has undergone until today. It brings together archival research and oral history studies and analyses different periods of the building with different methodologies. The book has a rich range of content from archive documents to newspaper clippings, letters to interview excerpts.
Postane: Archeology of a Building aims to open a window into the history of Beyoğlu through a building.
The limited first edition of the book was published with the support of CultureCIVIC and printed by the Center for Spatial Justice. The second edition, published by Postane, can be bought from the Postane Shop or ordered online from this link.
